These are not quite the right badges as I annoyingly found out when they arrived.

Hi Christian,

I would have warned you, but you'd already committed and so there seemed no point in doing so. Touring designed many cars that sported several different versions of their badging. So, care needs to be taken when buying replacements. Before you ask, I don't have recorded somewhere discrete specs for the Rapide badging. However, it seems to me highly likely that they will be the same as those used on the DB4 series 1, 2 and 3.

Best,

Tim

I should have suspected from the price but the photo was correct...not sure I'll be leaving them positive feedback!

Hi Simon, the Kevin Kay ones are not correct...but the photo is. The HWM ones are the right ones.

£180 the pair, I will take mine off with silk gloves and very great care indeed...

I have noticed that Kevin kay has some nice looking items, problem is that you are not going to know if they are really correct until they arrive. Coming from the USA as well, return postage sent insured and trackable, means you can easily loose out...

They did refund me without a problem but a bit annoying that even though I have pointed out thier error they still show the same badge in the photo. The one you get is probably from an Alfa - it's not the same hence (I guess) the cheaper price.

'...I need a part from my car, how much is it please?'
'About £5, what car is it for?'
'...an Aston Martin'
'Did I say £5, I meant £500...'

I have just been finishing removing bright work and chrome removal. Had left the Superleggera badge removal to the end, and I was right to do so, since they had really sunk into the paint.

The passenger side badge came off reasonably quickly in about five minutes. I used a very fine knife blade to remove all the paint around the badge and then carefully broke the contact with the paint and base of the badge.

it seems to be Mazak metal or similar, very delicate. Thankfully, it came off in one piece and was not bent or distorted. Top face down to metal, but will re-chrome easily, since thankfully zero pitting or damage.

The drivers side badge was another story, that took a happy hour or two using the same tools, until, it was finally freed from the bonnet.

I was pleased that both badges came off in one piece, without damage, but it is clearly not a job for the faint hearted, these are so easily damaged !

The thickness and depth of paint most impressive under and around the badges.

Great photos! If you pay that much attention to just the badges on the bonnet your car is going to be superb when finished.
