Subject: ZE layshaft bearings
I'm putting new gears and shafts in the ZE box. When I polished up the layshaft outer bearing races, I found some corrosion damage, about .0005-.001" deep. My first thought was to remake these parts, but then I went looking for an alternative. I found some needle bearings with machined outer rings that fit exactly, and the calculations show that they are more than adequate for the task. Seems like a simple solution and I wonder if anyone else has had this issue. I've attached a couple of pictures.
